The IWLP is structured as a 5 years part-time degree programme. Five modules are taken every year, two per semester and one in the Winter School. 

Introduction

The Industrial and Working Life Programme is a collaborative programme of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and the Workers’ College SA. The programme aims at providing access to selected members of trade unions and community organisation access to a degree programme in Social Sciences with majors in Industrial Organisation and Labour Studies (IOLS) and Sociology. The IWLP is structured as a 5 years part-time degree programme. Five modules are taken every year, two per semester and one in the Winter School. 

The number of participants selected into the programme is funding-dependent.

The key requirements for admission in the programme is the successful completion of the Labour Economic Programme, the Labour Studies Programme or the Labour Law programme. The number of participants selected into the programme is funding-dependent. As such, the selection process of participants into the programme is conducted through a process of an entry test, unless a different funding arrangement is put into place between the College and a funding partner.
